Internal hernia after bilioenteric anastomosis
Internal Medicine / Surgery
After choledochal T-tube drainage or gastrointestinal tract used for catheter fistulostomy, the body's anatomy undergoes changes, forming abnormal spaces above, below, or at the hiatus of the transverse mesocolon. Intestinal loops herniating into the space between the drainage tube and the lateral abdominal wall result in internal hernia after bilioenteric drainage. The clinical manifestations are symptoms and signs of acute mechanical small bowel obstruction, requiring early surgical intervention.
