Calicivirus gastroenteritis is caused by calicivirus infection and often occurs in outbreaks. All children aged 6 to 12 years may be infected. It can occur throughout the year with no obvious seasonal prevalence. The incubation period is 1 to 3 days, with vomiting and diarrhea as the main symptoms. Calicivirus has a unique morphology, with a diameter of 30 nm and six cup-shaped depressions on the surface, resembling six embedded cups, hence its name; there is also a depression in the central part. There are five serotypes: UK1-4 and the Sapporo type from Japan. Tissue culture has not been successful.
