Chronic pancreatitis refers to a pathological process of chronic progressive inflammation, destruction, and fibrosis of pancreatic acini and pancreatic ducts, often accompanied by calcification, pseudocysts, and reduction or atrophy of islet cells. Clinically, there are two types: chronic relapsing pancreatitis and chronic persistent pancreatitis. The main manifestations are recurrent or persistent abdominal pain, weight loss, diarrhea or steatorrhea. In the later stage, abdominal cystic masses, jaundice, and diabetes may appear.
