Esophageal Crohn's disease, in a broad sense, refers to Crohn's disease involving the esophagus. The esophageal lesion is part of the overall Crohn's disease, and in most cases is accompanied by extensive gastrointestinal Crohn's disease, along with extraintestinal manifestations. Crohn's disease is a chronic, non-specific, transmural granulomatous inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. The lesions are segmentally distributed and may involve one segment or simultaneously several segments of the entire digestive tract from the mouth to the anus. Among the affected sites, the small intestine and terminal ileum account for approximately 90%, while esophageal Crohn's disease is uncommon.
