Stomach cold

Internal Medicine

Stomach cold is a term in traditional Chinese medicine. It refers to a syndrome of yin-cold congealing and stagnating in the stomach due to deficiency and decline of spleen and stomach yang qi, excessive consumption of raw and cold food, or direct attack by cold pathogen. Symptoms include stomach pain that is relieved by warmth, vomiting of clear fluid, a tasteless mouth with a preference for hot drinks, poor digestion of food, a pale tongue with a white slippery coating, and a deep, slow pulse. The treatment principle is to warm the stomach and dispel cold. Clinically, stomach pain is often referred to as "stomach duct pain" in traditional Chinese medicine. Conditions such as gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, chronic gastritis, gastroptosis, gastric neurosis, and gastric mucosal prolapse as described in modern medicine mostly fall within the category of "stomach duct pain" in traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine generally classifies it into syndromes such as stomach cold and stomach heat. Stomach cold is a common ailment, but there are many causes of stomach cold, among which dietary habits are the main cause of stomach diseases.
