Infectious thrombocytopenic purpura is caused by infections such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, among which viral infection is a common cause of thrombocytopenia. It is characterized by a significant decrease in peripheral platelets and impaired maturation of megakaryocytes in the bone marrow. The main clinical manifestations are bleeding of the skin, mucous membranes, or internal organs. In severe cases, bleeding may occur in other sites, such as epistaxis, gingival bleeding, menorrhagia, or severe hematemesis, hemoptysis, hematochezia, and hematuria. Intracranial hemorrhage is the fatal cause of this disease.
