Female climacteric syndrome
Internal Medicine / 妇产科 / Traditional Chinese Medicine
Menopausal syndrome in women, abbreviated as menopausal syndrome, refers to a series of symptom complexes mainly characterized by autonomic nervous system dysfunction that occur during the transitional period when ovarian function gradually declines and eventually completely disappears due to physiological aging. It is a common and difficult-to-treat disease around the time of menopause in women. Its incidence rate is 10% to 15%. The main clinical manifestations include hot flashes, sweating, irritability, and menstrual disorders. In severe cases, it can affect life and work. Western medicine has no specific treatment for this condition, and hormone and sedative therapies are mostly used, with poor efficacy and certain side effects. This disease falls under the category of "pre- and post-menopausal syndromes" in traditional Chinese medicine. Although there is no special discussion in ancient medical texts, based on clinical symptoms, traditional Chinese medicine believes that the fundamental cause of this disease is the gradual decline of kidney qi, exhaustion of Tiangui, deficiency and damage of Chong and Ren meridians, insufficiency of essence and blood, and imbalance of yin and yang.
