Duodenal ulcer (DU) is one of the common chronic diseases of the digestive system, more common in young adults, and is caused by defects in the mucosal and muscular layers of the duodenum due to multiple factors. Duodenal ulcer is similar to gastric ulcer, being tissue damage extending beyond the muscularis mucosae caused by self-digestion of the intestinal mucosa by digestive juices. It is also similar to gastric ulcer in clinical manifestations and medication, but there are obvious differences in incidence, age, gender, and pathogenesis. Definitive diagnosis mainly relies on gastroscopy. Treatment methods include dietary therapy and neutralization and inhibition of gastric acid secretion.
