Acute purulent meningitis
Internal Medicine / Pediatrics / Traditional Chinese Medicine / 感染性疾病科
Acute purulent meningitis is an acute inflammatory reaction of the pia mater, arachnoid mater, cerebrospinal fluid, and ventricles caused by pyogenic bacteria. The surfaces of the brain and spinal cord may be mildly involved, and it is often associated with purulent encephalitis or brain abscess. Acute purulent meningitis is a severe intracranial infection. Despite significant advances in antibiotic development, the mortality and morbidity rates of acute purulent meningitis remain relatively high.
