Ménière's disease, also known as labyrinthine hydrops, is a disease caused by endolymphatic hydrops of the inner ear membraneous labyrinth, resulting in episodic vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, and a feeling of fullness in the head. Ménière's disease commonly occurs in middle-aged people, initially mostly unilateral; with the progression of the disease, 9-14% of patients may develop bilateral involvement. The etiology is unknown, and many scholars believe it should be classified within the category of psychosomatic diseases. The main symptom of Ménière's disease onset is vertigo.
