Essential hypertension

Internal Medicine

Hypertension can be divided into two major categories: primary and secondary. In the vast majority of patients, the cause of hypertension is unknown and is termed primary hypertension, accounting for more than 95% of all hypertensive patients. Primary hypertension, also known as essential hypertension, in addition to symptoms directly related to hypertension itself, long-standing hypertension can also serve as an important risk factor for various cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and can affect the function of vital organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys, ultimately leading to failure of these organs.
